Douglas J. James
President & CEO

Douglas James has been a key player in the laser industry for more than 20 years and brings to Jambalaya extensive international technology management expertise. From 1976 to 1994, he contributed to the growth of Lumonics, a developer of laser-based systems and components. During this period, he held a wide range of roles of increasing responsibility, including Chief Technology Officer and President. Since 1994 he has been an independent business consultant to a number of prominent, trans-national technology companies before co-founding Jambalaya.

Dr. James has served on a number of Boards of Directors including Lumonics Inc., the Canadian Advanced Technology Association, Laser and Electro-Optics Manufacturers Association, and the Ontario Laser and Lightwave Research Centre (Chair). Dr. James currently serves as the Chair of the Board of the Canadian Institute for Photonic Innovations and has been a member of the Board since 2002. He is also a director of AcXys Technologies SA specializing in atmospheric plasma surface preparation and modification.

Dr.James holds the degrees of B.Sc. in Physics and Ph.D. in Applied Physics from the University of Hull (U.K.) where from 1965 to 1976 he was a lecturer in Applied Physics.
